Nestled at 2000 meters above sea level in the enchanting Ayas Valley, La Tchavana is a hidden gem that locals cherish, and visitors fall in love with.

This unique agriturismo, perched on the alp Metzan, offers breathtaking views of the Monte Rosa glacier. Founded in 1999 by Roberto Bagnod, a visionary from Piedmont, La Tchavana is a testament to his passion for pastoral life and sustainable agriculture. Roberto saw the magic and potential in this alpine pasture and transformed it into a haven where man and nature coexist harmoniously.

The old alpage was renovated to include a charming restaurant that serves fresh, homegrown produce. During the summer, animals from Piedmont graze the lush pastures, continuing a family tradition of nurturing livestock with the utmost care.

How to Get There

Reaching La Tchavana is an adventure in itself, offering different routes depending on your preference. In summer, a simple hike will lead you to this paradise, while in winter, snowshoes or crampons will guide your way.

Trail 1 - From Mandriou

Start at the village of Mandriou for a quick walk and a delightful lunch. Take path 3A from the main square, which begins steep but soon eases. Enjoy the serene nature, and in about half an hour, you’ll arrive at La Tchavana, ready to indulge in delicious polenta or gelato.

Pair your meal with a selection of cured meats and cheeses, accompanied by a fresh wine produced by Bagnod in Piedmont. The restaurant’s offerings are a true testament to the quality and care put into every product.

Also Not to Be Missed

La Tchavana is more than just a place to eat; it’s an experience. Here are some must-do activities:
